Up to $8,000 funding to provide rest areas for lower-wage workers under new Workcare Grant

This is indeed a good gesture from MOM in recognising essential workers like cleaners and security officers.

More  can be and should be done. Many new residential developments provide little or no rest area for these essential workers. The Management Office (where management staff of Managing Agents are housed) of many  residential developments are too small. When safe distancing is factored in, some staff would have to be moved out. Some mixed developments of  multi-tiers, do not even have a Management Office for the commercial MCST. The Management Staff have had to work at the Fire Command Centre(FCC).

Why construct buildings with no space for our  essential workers?

The rules governing GFA must change. GFA for space used for  essential purposes such as Management Office and Rest Areas should be waived.
