In 1993, I took the leap of faith and started my own business.
But within half a year, I found myself exhausted, discouraged and ready to throw in the towel.
I started looking for a job again.
Then I met two senior businessmen: Mr Ngo and Mr Ng.
What I got instead were two powerful challenges that changed everything.
Mr Ngo told me:
“The designation ‘Boss’ is not for everyone. If you choose to be in business, you are also choosing to solve problems, big and small, every single day.”
Those words hit hard. I realised I wasn’t just building a business. I was choosing to be the one, others turned to when things went wrong.
Then Mr. Ng told me:
“Your challenges are no big deal. You need to change your mindset. Don’t let the wall stop you—knock it down.”
He added a phrase I will never forget:
“天塌下来当被盖 — “Even if the sky collapses, use it as a blanket.”
At the time, those words were hard to digest.
But over time, I tested their wisdom.
I learned that most challenges can be resolved. Some take longer, but they are rarely impossible.
Since then, I have grown my company, Wisely 98 Pte Ltd to be known as the Digital Strata Managing Agent, providing leading solutions for condos.
I am forever grateful to Mr Ngo and Mr. Ng—for their belief in me and the truths they shared.
